I truly enjoyed my stay at Dao House. The stunning views of the Rockies and the overall solitude made for a relaxing getaway. Although I noticed a slightly musty smell in my room, it quickly vanished when I opened the porch door to let in that fresh mountain air. This place is definitely on my list for a return visit!

I found my room to be clean and comfortable, with a backdoor that opened to a walkway offering amazing views of the mountains.

The staff I encountered were really friendly and accommodating, which made my experience even better.
Location

Dao House's location is simply amazing, nestled between two gorgeous mountain peaks and close to opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities.
Dining
7.0
While the dining options were decent, featuring organic items, it didn't quite wow me. The atmosphere in the lobby with its big stone chimney was quite inviting though.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were satisfactory overall, though I didn't have a chance to utilize many of them during my stay.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Dao House. The stunning mountain views were a highlight, and the quiet atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. However, I did notice some areas of the hotel needing maintenance, which detracted from my overall experience.

Rooms
8.0
My room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The lack of air conditioning was noticeable, but the cool mountain nights made it manageable. A minor issue was the slightly musty smell, which dissipated once I opened the door to let in fresh air.
Service
8.0
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I appreciated their flexibility with my late checkout, which helped make my stay more comfortable.
Location
8.0
Situated about 7 miles outside of Estes Park, the location offered amazing views of the surrounding mountains. It felt peaceful and secluded, perfect for those wanting to immerse themselves in nature.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were limited to a continental style breakfast, which was quite basic. It lacked the variety and quality I expected, but I wasn't too bothered by it since I had plenty of other dining options nearby.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel had beautiful outdoor spaces and a playground, I noticed some facilities, like the pool and hot tub, were unusable. There were signs of neglect in certain areas, though the potential was clear.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at Dao House. The location offered amazing views of Long's Peak, and I appreciated the pet-friendly rooms, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The service was surprisingly friendly, but the rooms felt basic and the dining options were lacking quality.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms are quite basic and rustic. I found the bed okay, but the screens on the windows didn’t keep all the insects out, which was a bit of a hassle. However, my room did have a nice wooden door leading to a balcony with a great mountain view.
Service
5.0
Staff were friendly and informative, but there were some significant service issues, especially considering the chaotic wedding I attended. They seemed unprepared and unorganized during check-in and did not effectively handle special requests.
Location
6.0
The location offers stunning views and is peaceful, but it’s about 7 miles outside of Estes Park. If you’re looking for a spot to walk around town, this might not be the best choice.
Dining
5.0
The dining was in a large barn-like lobby with cozy seating, but the food quality left much to be desired. I experienced both undercooked meals and a lack of alternatives for dietary restrictions.
Facilities
5.0
While the facilities have a nice overall aesthetic, they seemed to be in the midst of renovations and the restaurant didn't meet expectations, particularly for such a significant occasion as a wedding.

My stay at Dao House was quite the experience. The views of the surrounding mountains were stunning, and I loved having a large, clean room with a nice bathroom. However, I did notice some areas of the hotel that seemed to have fallen into disrepair, which was disappointing. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, my stay wasn't without its challenges, particularly with the dining options. Overall, I enjoyed some aspects but felt there were significant areas for improvement.

Rooms
8.0
My room was large, clean, and quiet with great views. The lack of AC wasn't an issue since it got cool at night.
Service

The staff was incredibly friendly and flexible, especially in accommodating a late check-out. They were helpful during our stay.
Location
8.0
Situated about 7 miles outside of town, Dao House felt like a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, perfect for hiking.
Dining
5.0
The food options were simple and mostly carb-heavy without much protein, which was disappointing despite the use of some organic products.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel had some nice features like a pond and trails, I found that certain facilities, like the pool and hot tub, needed maintenance.

6.4/10

My stay at Dao House was quite an experience. While the peaceful atmosphere and stunning mountain views were refreshing, I faced several challenges with the accommodations and service that left me disappointed. The rustic charm of the lodge was overshadowed by issues like cleanliness and lack of amenities. Overall, it was a mixed bag.

Rooms
5.0
The room was basic and rustic, featuring a thick wooden door that opened to a balcony where I enjoyed the mountain view. However, the cleanliness left something to be desired, with leftover granola on the floor and some screens not sealing properly against insects.
Service
6.0
The service staff was generally helpful. They provided a box fan for comfort and showed me a shortcut to Rocky Mountain National Park, which I appreciated. However, the commitment to providing a seamless experience didn’t always hit the mark.
Location
7.0
Dao House is located about 7 miles outside of Estes Park, making it a peaceful retreat with gorgeous views of the Rockies. However, this distance means it isn’t convenient for those seeking the lively atmosphere of downtown Estes.
Dining
5.0
The dining area was a cozy barn-like lobby with a warm fire and comfortable seating. The food was decent but not amazing, and the restaurant reservations required 24-hour notice, which was inconvenient for impromptu dining.
Facilities
5.0
While the facilities looked charming, they appeared to still be under renovation. The overall outdated decor did not live up to the promise of fusion between rustic beauty and modern comfort.
